Dear Parents,
            Welcome to an exciting new school year!  My name is Cheryl Nelson-Handley and I will be your child’s teacher this year.  I am very happy to be at St. Nicholas and working with your child!  It is my goal to help your child grow emotionally, spiritually, and educationally this year in a space that is safe, nurturing, and encourages independence and curiosity. 
            The beginning of every school year is always hectic and somewhat confusing for both the students and the parents.  There are lots of notes coming back and forth, questions to be asked, schedules to adjust to, and new routines for everyone.  As you work to navigate through the process of beginning first grade with your child, take comfort knowing that once these technicalities are worked out, the confusion will ease and our routines will fall into place. Your children will soon feel quite comfortable in their new class with their first grade friends and will rise to the challenge of first grade work!
